FRIDAY NIGHT UNWIND
A monthly special class designed to reduce stress, relax, promoting calm and improving sleep as well as working to release tight tissues in the body.
It's the ultimate rest and restore class.
WHAT TO EXPECT
CLASS STYLE: Gentle Yin & Yoga Nidra
Class starts with 5-10 minutes gentle floor based warming poses. We then move in to a yin practice - floor based poses held for up to 5 minutes using a variety of equipment to support the body. We relax into each pose here with no muscular work, allowing us to release deep tension in the body.
We finish with a specialist type of guided meditation called Yoga Nidra which is designed to deeply relax and a long final relaxation.

YIN YOGA & YOGA NIDRA BENEFITS
Improving & maintains joint health & mobility
Compression into deeper tissues - joint capsules, ligaments & tendons and release from this compression flushes fresh synovial fluid through the joints.
Synovial fluid keeps our joints from drying out, and keeping friction to a minimum.
Feels like a lovely deep massage after each release.
Cortisol is our stress hormone. This is produced in response to our sympathetic nervous system, commonly referred to as our fight or flight response.
Yin yoga stimulates our parasympathetic nervous system or our rest and digest response.
Activating our parasympathetic nervous systems reduces cortisol levels and therefore, our stress levels.
Antidote to modern stressors.
Breathing practices used in yoga have been linked to reduced blood pressure, reduced stress symptoms and assist in the management of conditions such as anxiety and depression.
1 hour of Yoga Nidra is roughly equivalent to 4 hours of good quality sleep!
Yoga Nidra can help you access the creative parts of yourself.
Yoga Nidra is also great to practice if you need to create space for new learning and absorbing new material.
